Sam Larry Breaks Silence: “I Never Laid Hands on Mohbad, Let Them Bring Evidence”

The entertainment personality “Samson Erinfolami Balogun” also known as Sam Larry has publicly addressed claims that he bullied or assaulted late singer Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, known by his stage name “Mohbad,” stating that he never laid hands on him and that accusations circulating online are untrue.

In a video that was posted online on Saturday 29th of June 2025, by a popular human right activist and influencer “Martins Vincent Otse popularly known as VeryDarkman, Sam Larry explained a viral video where many alleged he stormed a video shoot to threaten Mohbad. According to Sam Larry, the incident was misinterpreted:

“I did not carry boys to go and threaten Mohbad. I was at the beach, then I decided to go and buy yam for my child when I learned they were shooting a video there. I saw Mohbad and told him he wouldn’t leave without settling me. That was all. Zlatan even pulled me aside and told me to let it go that I’m beyond that, and it ended there.”

When VeryDarkman pointed out that the viral video did not look like a simple request for money but appeared as an assault, Sam Larry insisted Zlatan witnessed the entire scene and that no assault occurred:

“Anyone claiming I assaulted Mohbad should provide evidence. I only saw Mohbad twice the year he died. First was at a club with Naira Marley and later was during that video shoot at the beach. At the club, he was in a dispute with a friend of mine over money when I saw him, and I interfered to ask what was going on. Although Mohbad owed me about 2 million naira at that period too for a birthday show he missed, I never brought it up. I have never laid my hands on him.”

Sam Larry added that he tried to settle the dispute during that incident, but Mohbad hailed him using a cult slang which he had never been a member of. Then one of the bouncers had to lift him and shove him aside to prevent further escalation. He further stated that, one of Mohbad’s aide broke a bottle and tried to attack during the altercation. Although he became furious towards the individual, but he never attacked Mohbad.

VeryDarkman raised another issue regarding allegations that Mohbad wrote a petition accusing Sam Larry of bullying, Sam Larry confirmed he was invited by the police over claims that he ordered people to break Mohbad’s camera and threatened to kill him, with Omoniyi Temitayo Raphael, another Nigerian hip-hop singer known as “Zlatan” listed as a witness:

“Police invited me once over allegations that I ordered people to break Mohbad’s camera at Elegushi and to pay 15 million, and that I asked boys to murder him. Mohbad even included Zlatan as a witness, but I debunked the allegations and filed a counter-petition at Alagbon using same Zlatan as my witness, but Mohbad didn’t honour the police invitation. This was after the beach incident.”

When asked why Zlatan never publicly cleared the air, Sam Larry claimed Zlatan once told him he had been warned that if he spoke on the matter, he would bleed from his mouth and eyes. VeryDarkman asked if there was a feud between Azeez Adeshina Fashola known as Naira Marley and Zlatan, as Naira Marley never pushed Zlatan to clarify the situation publicly. Sam Larry responded that he does not think Naira Marley have a feud with anyone.

Sam Larry also addressed a viral clip where he was heard saying, “All station settlement, no question to answer,” clarifying it was an unrelated old video from around 2013/2014 when he settled some cases for people:

“I usually settle disputes for people, and they call me ‘King of Settlement (KS). So, that video was unrelated to this incident.”

On whether Mohbad struggled financially or into drugs despite being signed to a record label, as he was reportedly owing people money. Sam Larry stated:

“Mohbad had money, but I don’t know why he owed. Maybe his wife can answer that. As for whether he took drugs, I can’t say.”

Sam Larry, who said he was in Dubai when he heard about Mohbad’s death, expressed that he genuinely liked Mohbad when he was asked whether he misses the late singer:

“Yes, I miss him. I really liked him, whenever Mohbad released a song, I always pushed it to ensure it went viral. I took him along wherever I traveled to help his music career. His wife and manager can confirm this.”

Larry concluded by reiterating that he never bullied Mohbad and is open to anyone bringing evidence to prove otherwise.

Mohbad’s sudden death threw many Nigerians into confusion, as the exact cause of his passing remains unknown. Despite Sam Larry’s detailed narration of his encounters with the late hip-hop singer, Nigerians have continued to react with mixed feelings.
