Presidency Debunks Alleged Replacement of Sen. Akume

The Nigerian presidency, through the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, has debunked reports circulating last night alleging that Hadiza Bala Usman has been appointed as the new Secretary to the Government of the Federation, replacing Senator George Akume.

In an official statement, Onanuga said:

“There has been no change in the status of His Excellency, Senator George Akume, as Secretary to the Government of the Federation. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, currently in Saint Lucia, has not made any new appointments.”

He emphasized that the president, who is currently away in Saint Lucia, has not made any new appointments. He therefore urged the public to disregard the trending report, describing it as a fabrication by individuals seeking to cause mischief.

Some Nigerians have described the rumour as a manipulation geared towards the 2027 general elections.
