Emotional Tribute: Sola Sobowale Kneels to Thank Adebayo Salami for His Impact on Her Career
Popular actress Sola Sobowale brought tears to many eyes on Sunday, June 29, when she knelt down in public to thank veteran actor Adebayo Salami, also known as Oga Bello, for helping her grow in the movie industry.
The touching moment happened at the premiere of “Her Excellency”, a new movie by Oga Bello, held to celebrate his 60 years in Nollywood. The movie will be showing in cinemas starting Friday, July 4.
While speaking on stage, Sola Sobowale said Oga Bello is a good and kind man who changed her life forever. She said:“God used him to take me to where I am today. I’ve never done this before, but I will do it now,” she said as she went down on her knees. “Ese modupe (Thank you). I am very grateful from my heart. You didn’t just help me—you helped many people, young and old, men and women, even those who are no longer alive. You are a selfless man.”
She continued by praising Oga Bello’s wife, Mama Wale, for standing by him and supporting him through the years.
Actor Femi Adebayo, who is Oga Bello’s son, shared the video on Instagram the next day. He wrote:“It wasn’t just about the lights and cameras. Sola Sobowale knelt down—not to act, but to say thank you from her heart. She honoured the man who helped her, supported her, corrected her, and gave so much to many people in Nollywood.”
