Kane’s Double Strike Sinks Chelsea in Munich Showdown

Harry Kane scored two goals as Bayern Munich defeated Chelsea 3-1 in their Champions League opener. Chelsea tried hard in Germany but went home unhappy after Bayern escaped a possible red card.

Chelsea, back in the Champions League after two years, started the game well. They moved the ball quickly and even had a chance through Enzo Fernández, but he missed from close range after good work by Cole Palmer.

First-half drama

Bayern took the lead when Michael Olise’s cross deflected off Trevoh Chalobah and went into his own net. Soon after, Moises Caicedo fouled Kane in the box, and the England striker calmly scored the penalty to make it 2-0.

Chelsea didn’t give up. Palmer linked with Malo Gusto and smashed in a brilliant goal to make it 2-1 before halftime.

Kane strikes again

In the second half, Bayern pressed harder. Chelsea’s goalkeeper, Robert Sánchez, made good saves from Kane and Olise. But a poor mistake from Chelsea’s defence gave Kane the ball in the box, and he fired low into the net for his second of the night.

That goal was Kane’s tenth against Chelsea in his career.

Chelsea’s frustration

Chelsea thought they had scored again late in the game when Palmer found the net from Andrey Santos’ pass, but it was ruled out for offside. The Blues were also angry when Bayern’s Jonathan Tah avoided a red card for pulling back Joao Pedro. Manager Enzo Maresca was booked for complaining.

In the end, Chelsea showed some good moments but wasted too many chances and made costly mistakes. Bayern kept their strong home record in the Champions League, showing they mean business this season.
