Blues in Trouble: 74 Rule Breaches Put Chelsea at Risk of Points Loss

Chelsea Football Club is in hot water after the Football Association (FA) charged them with 74 rule breaches.
The case goes back to the days when Roman Abramovich owned the club. The FA says between 2009 and 2022, Chelsea broke rules about player agents, intermediaries, and third-party ownership. Most of the issues happened from 2010/11 to 2015/16 seasons.
Now, Chelsea must reply to the charges before 19 September 2025.
The current owners, led by Todd Boehly, said they found these mistakes themselves in 2022 while checking old records. They even gave the FA full access to files and data, promising they’ve been very open.
If Chelsea are found guilty, punishments could include a big fine or even losing Premier League points.
But the club reminded fans that these problems are from “over 10 years ago.”
For now, the Blues will try to focus on the pitch as they face Brentford on Saturday in the Premier League.
