Tragic Loss: Nollywood Director Kayode Peters Dies in Toronto”

We are sad to share that popular Nigerian actor and movie director, Kayode Adewumi, has died. He passed away on Saturday, June 28, 2025, in Toronto, Canada, after being sick for a long time.

His family shared the news on Instagram, saying:

“It is with deep sadness that we announce the death of our dear Kayode Peters Adewumi. He passed away peacefully this morning in Toronto. KP fought a long illness with strength and courage until his last breath.”

Kayode, also known as KP, was not just a talented actor and filmmaker — he was also a loving husband, father, brother, and friend. Many people loved him for his kindness and the good things he did, both on TV and in real life. He made people smile and will always be remembered.

KP became well-known after he created the comedy show Flatmates in 2004. He also worked as the executive producer for the newer version, My Flatmates.

He started his journey in the world of acting with a group called Theatre 15 at the University of Lagos. Later, he worked on famous TV shows like Twilight Zone and Papa Ajasco and Company.

He also directed movies like 13 Letters in 2019 and Crazy Grannies in 2021.

Kayode Adewumi was a star and a great man. He will be missed by many.
